      Dr. Shell Gale, D.V.M. is providing low-cost Health Screening for dogs and cats of all ages in the New York Metropolitan area. This pilot program is provided through Dr. Gale's Animal Haven Mobile Veterinary Services. The purpose of the health screening is to educate people about the health and behavioral issues of their pet(s); each pet has review of comprehensive health (including vaccinations) and behavioral history information and receives a thorough physical examination (including urinalysis and other screening tests). The owner receives a copy of the medical record generated by Dr. Gale. This includes a problem list and recommendations for follow-up with the veterinarian of their choice, when necessary. By intervening early on in disease processes and sometimes effectively preventing illness, health screening is a way to achieve more favorable outcomes and keep medical costs down. Good communication with families in the examination room supports and nurtures the human-animal bond.
